The
Himachal Pradesh State Handicrafts & Handlooms Corporation
Limited has been established by the Himachal Pradesh government
to honour, nurture and promote the handicrafts industry and
encourage the continuance of its rich and glorious tradition.
The primary objective of the Corporation is to ensure the
overall welfare and growth of the artisans and weavers. Its
aim include freeing artisans and weavers from the exploitation
of their maters, imparting training through which the pool
of talent and skill can be enlarged,
promoting
financial welfare

craftsmen,
providing a assistance in the procurement of raw material and
taking on the critically important function of marketing the
various handicrafts produced in the state.
The Corporation also plays a crucial role in preventing the
extinction of crafts and reviving those that have become extinct
owing to the lack of support and patronage. An important function
of the corporation is to encourage craftsmen to continue their
quest for excellence.
A pace with changing trends and preferences, the Design and
Development unit of the Corporation plays the key role in evolving
new designs that appeal to modern consumers and yet are infused
with the tradition and spirit of Himachal handicrafts.

Awards for outstanding contribution in the field of Handicrafts
and Handlooms have been initiated for all craftsmen and weavers
in Himachal Pradesh.
